Review on The Tales of Beedle the Bard

Hi everybody...
I'm back again with another review. This time I'll review about the latest book of J.K. Rowling, The Tales of Beedle the Bard.
This book consists of 5 tales that is as popular as Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty in Muggles society (ordinary people). These stories are bedtime stories for the children of the pure blood (wizards) and half blood that live in the wizarding world.
The tales are The Wizard and The Hopping Pot, The Fountain of Fair Fortune, The Warlock's Hairy Heart, Babbity Rabbity and Her Cackling Stump, and The Tales of the Three Brothers.
Anyone who have read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows know The Tales of the Three Brothers for sure. So, I won't comment on it in this review.

I love the story of The Warlock's Hairy Heart. This story is considered a little bit unsuitable for children because parents of the wizarding world think that this story can cause nightmares to their children. However, I think this story is very great.

This is a story about a handsome, rich, and talented young warlock. He thought that falling in love makes people silly, so he chose not to fall in love. His family just laughed at him and thought that everything would change. But the warlock remained cool and still chose not to fall in love. He spent much time in the dungeon. As time passed by, his parents died and left him the castle with many servants and a large sum of money. He was happy with his new life.
One day, two of his servants were chatting about their master. One servant pitied him that even though he was handsome and rich, he didn't have anyone who love him. The other servant said that his master didn't need love because he had had the wealth. The warlock overheard this conversation and he chose to find a woman for him to marry, but this woman had to be beautiful, rich, and talented as he was.
This took years of his life to find a woman with this criteria. One day, he found the woman he wanted. She was beautiful, rich, and talented. Everyone who had ever seen her would instantly fall in love. But when the warlock met her, he felt nothing. Though, he tried to win her heart. She accepted the warlock's attention. Then, the warlock made a party for her.
At the party, he spoke words of love to her, but she said that the warlock's words were sweet but she didn't think that those words were truly from his heart. Then the warlock took her to the dungeon where he kept his greatest treasure.
And she almost fainted to know that the warlock kept his heart in a crystal. His heart was shrunken and covered with black hair. She begged the warlock to take it back to the place where it belonged. The warlock agreed because he thought that he could win her heart by doing that.
When he had placed it back to his chest, he felt something he had never experienced before. He had a strong desire to make the woman his.
The people at the party realized the absence of the host. They searched the castle and they were terrified with what they saw in the dungeon. The warlock was holding a scarlet heart. He had cut her chest and take her heart to make it his. Then he tried to replace his own heart with hers. However, his hairy heart was stronger and it didn't want to be replaced. When finally the warlock succeed in taking away his own heart, he was suddenly died.
Tragic, isn't it?

Well, that's the end of the story. I think the stories in this book is much more better than what we have in the real world. Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty just wait for their princes to save their lives, but in this book we can find something that is morally good to be planted to children and even adults.

Thank you for reading, hope you like it...

  3. Hello Ming...^^
From this story, we can learn that everybody needs love. When you try to hide it, you just somehow hurt yourself. Just for information, to have a hairy heart represents a cold and unfeeling heart.

Actually, this book contains 5 stories, and other stories have their own morals, for instance about hard work and kind-hearted. In short, they are better than most of our stories we have. We have Cinderella who is waiting for her prince to release her from the awful situation, but in this book we are taught to find the solution ourselves.

So far, this is my response...
