here's a recipe I took from British Popular Breakfast.
the name is EGG IN THE BASKET.
I bet most of you have never heard about that funny name.
because when the forst time I told my friend about 'Egg in The Basket', they imagine all kind of funny things, but a kind of food.
To make an 'egg in the basket', you'll need:
- a piece of bread
- an egg (of course)
- butter (it's better be unsalted)
- a knife
- a frying pan
- a spatula
the way to make it is not very difficult but, neither very easy:
- make a hole in the middle of the bread (not too small, not too big. it's for the egg space)
- buttered both the bread (both side)
- it's better to put your egg in a bowl first
- heat the frying pan. use the small fire.
- put the bread into the pan, don't let the bread well cooked!!
- put the egg into the bread's hole.put a little salt and pepper on it. let the egg half-cooked
- this is the most difficult part. flip the bread quick and carefully and put a little salt and pepper on the other side.
- when it's crunchy, hurry up, grabbed it!
Here's the picture of well done 'egg in the basket'
try it yourselves, and
make sure you don't mess up in the kitchen
Good Luck!
Yummyy...
ReplyDeleteI want to try to make it...

ReplyDeleteit's amazing, you know!!
i really can't imagine to make something like that!
but, i think there is something funny..
the "nucleus" part, i mean the inner part (which usually is yellow) is red. how come?

well, honestly, I got the picture from internet.
ReplyDeletebut you can made the yolk look reddish like that by choosing a good quality egg or country egg.
I've been tried to make it several times and it was usually yellow because I used ordinary egg (the brown one). hate yolk actually.
hey! that reminds me!
you know, if you like yolk, that means you love your mother.
on the other hand, if you like the albumen, that mean you love your father.
haha . . . .
but it's just a myth
I have had this before! A friend from college used to make this on a hotplate in his dorm room.
ReplyDeleteNucleus lol....
ReplyDeleteBut how much time we need to cook one? :O
@xenxe
ReplyDeleteit's really the nucleus, xenxe..
or isn't it? ahahaha...
@gaby
you hate yolk? does it mean that you hate your mother? hahaha..
by the way, why is it called "egg in the basket"? i don't think that the bread resembles basket. hehehe...
